What is a Sort code and ABA code?

One of the payment methods we offer is paid by bank, using our payment provider MangoPay. When setting up this payment method you'll need to fill in your bank account details:
1) Account number - your bank account number
2) Sort code - six-digit code, three pairs of numbers, written as 12-34-56. The first two numbers identify the bank, and the other four identify the branch and its location. 

or ABA code -  nine-digit code that identifies banks in the USA.

How can I find my sort code?

It’s often printed on your bank-issued debit cards, bank statements, cheque books, and any official correspondence from your bank related to your account. You can also view your sort code in the account overview section of your online or mobile banking apps.

 

Is the sort code the same as the SWIFT Code?

No, they are not the same. The sort code and the SWIFT Code are different. A SWIFT code is also known as a BIC (Bank or Business Identifier Code). It’s like a sort code in that it identifies your bank — but unlike a sort code, it’s recognised worldwide.

 

How to find my ABA Number?

You can get your account’s ABA number from several sources. If you have a checkbook handy, the easiest solution is to locate the numbers at the bottom of one of your checks. An ABA number is printed on every check. On personal checks, it is usually the nine-digit number in the bottom left-hand corner.
